Update: Linda Saul-Sena withdraws from commission race; Curtis Stokes picked as City Council replacement
Former Tampa City Council member Linda Saul-Sena withdrew today from her race for the District 5 Hillsborough County Commission seat. She hopes -- and it's likely -- that county Democrats will reappoint her to the ballot. It's the latest maneuver in wranglings that began when Saul-Sena missed a deadline to file papers with the supervisor of elections indicating her intention to resign from the council to run for the commission. Hillsborough County Republicans have filed a lawsuit, asking a judge to remove Saul-Sena from the ballot. Read more about it here. Meanwhile, the City Council today selected former NAACP head Curtis Stokes as Saul-Sena's replacement on the council. He will serve until after city elections in March. Read more about that here.
Update: Hillsborough County Democrats will vote on whether to put Saul-Sena back on the ballot at tonight's regularly scheduled meeting.
