Update: Petition to stop Bud Chiles launched

Pat Kemp, who chairs the Hillsborough County Democratic Party, has launched a petition urging Bud Chiles to drop out of the governor's race. It's called "Walk Away Bud Chiles."

"The only thing Bud Chiles can do is be a spoiler," Kemp said. "He could never win. He could never even get a large percentage of the vote. But by getting a few percentage points he could knock out Alex Sink's possibility of being the next governor and the agendas that he cares about will be the same old thing. Alex Sink will be supporting the issues and doing the work that we need to do to push the agenda for working families, for the environment, for education." See the petition here:

As of this writing, Kemp was the only one who had signed it. "I hope to get a lot more," she said.

Update: So as of this writing, a little less than 24 hours after this petition went live, it has 35 signatures. But here's an interesting note: It appears to have a series of ads for Republican candidate for governor Rick Scott.
