Valerie Goddard for Tampa City Council? Maybe
It was a little like being at your wedding and relatives already asking when you planned to have children: Even before the final votes were in, people at Hillsborough County Commission candidate Valerie Goddard's election night event were asking if she planned a run for Tampa City Council next year. A political novice, Goddard entered the rough-and-tumble race to unseat Kevin White and became part of the most interesting local upset: While Les Miller won the Democratic primary, Goddard came in second, leaving the incumbent for last. And she accomplished this with about $30,000 in campaign funds, compared to White's $120,000. So about those City Council questions? Goddard said she needs a couple of weeks to catch her breath. "I can honestly tell you I’m not going away," she said. "But what that means in terms of a role, I have no idea."
