Wagman makes 5 vying for St. Pete mayor
After months of rumors, businessman and philanthropist Scott Wagman has made it official: He wants to be St. Petersburg's next mayor.
Wagman, 55, said he has no political ambition other than to help St. Petersburg move forward. "Nobody that I have heard that is running comes close to my business experience and my organizational experience," he said.
Wagman joins a growing list of candidates running in the 2009 mayoral race, including City Council Chairman Jamie Bennett, Amscott Financial executive Deveron Gibbons, construction worker Paul Congemi and attorney Bill Foster. Mayor Rick Baker is term limited.
