Wagman wins mock election
ST. PETERSBURG -- Scott Wagman supporters helped the candidate win a mock election at an election mixer Wednesday.
The event, hosted by the RHINO political action committee at NOVA 535, allowed participants to cast a mock vote in the mayoral and City Council races. Attorney C. Byron Stout oversaw the election and Council member Bill Dudley certified the results.
Here are the results:
In the mayoral race, Scott Wagman got 21 percent of the vote, Kathleen Ford and Larry Williams got 19 percent, Jamie Bennett got 15 percent, Deveron Gibbons got 14 percent, Bill Foster got 8 percent, Ed Helm received 2 percent and Paul Congemi and Richard Eldridge each received 1 percent of the vote. Mayoral hopeful John Warren did not receive any votes.
In the District 2 race, Stephen Corsetti got 56 percent to Council member Jim Kennedy's 44 percent.
In the District 4 race, Leslie Curran picked up 77 percent of the vote compared to 13 percent for Pamella Settlegoode and 10 percent for Jason Diviki.
In the District 5 race, Steve Kornell got 50 percent of the vote. Joseph Smith got 35 percent and Angela Rouson got 15 percent.
In the District 6 race, Karl Nurse got 79 percent, Vel Thompson got 12 percent and Derrick Frohne got 9 percent of the vote.
In the District 8 race, Jeff Danner received 71 percent of the vote. Leonard Schmiege received 29 percent of the vote.
