Yolie Capin files to run for District 3 Tampa council seat
Yvonne Yolie Capin has filed to run for the at-large District 3 City Council seat. Capin now holds the District 4 seat that represents south Tampa. Five council members appointed her to the post in July when John Dingfelder resigned to run for the county commission. In seeking the appointment, Capin said on an application she would not run for office in March. "Obviously, I had a change of heart," said Capin, who in 2008 made a failed run for the District 57 state House seat against Republican incumbent Faye Culp. Capin said she believes her chances to win the City Council seat are good given that in the 2008 legislative race she received a greater percentage of the vote than Democrat Stacy Frank did on Nov. 2 when competing for an open seat.
