Dunedin considers brand advertising expense
Dunedin city commissioners on Thursday will consider partnering with local tourism group Visit Dunedin on a $36,000 campaign to promote the city and one of its new city slogans, “Dun Our Way,” at the airport, at hotels and online.
If the city chips in $5,000, Visit Dunedin says it would raise the remaining $13,000 needed to match an $18,000 grant opportunity from the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The money would pay for a year’s worth of ads on 16 electronic screens at the Tampa International Airport baggage claim; promotion of the tourism group’s new VisitDunedinFL.com website to all TripAdvisor.com users who do Tampa Bay-related travel searches; and a new brochure that would be distributed via the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center, City Hall and local hotels.
The measures represent the second phase of a branding campaign city officials launched in 2011 to promote Dunedin around the globe.
The commission will also consider contracts to install an irrigation system at Edgewater Linear Park and to add sidewalks, handicap curb ramps and improved crosswalks along south Douglas Avenue between Union and Lexington streets.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 542 Main St. Get a copy of the full agenda at Dunedingov.com.
