First Democrat files in Pasco County

18

January

West Pasco businessman Barry C. Horvath is seeking the Pasco County Commission seat held by Kathryn Starkey and he has the distinction of being the first Democrat to file for local office in the 2016 elections.

A dozen other candidates already have filed for county commission or constitutional offices – 11 Republicans and one with no-party affiliation. Starkey a first-term Republican has said she will seek re-election to the District 3 seat, but has not yet filed her candidacy papers or begun fund-raising.

A statement released by the Pasco Democratic Party said Horvath grew up in the Pasco County area after his family moved here in 1973. He worked in the family hardware and automotive store which he said taught him the value of customer service.  Horvath, 50, now operates mortgage and title companies and a financial services practice.
He also is the executive director and founder of the West Pasco Business Association networking group,

The general election is Nov. 8.
