Fundraisers on tap for Michael Scionti, Mary Mulhern and Ed Narain
Judicial candidate Michael Scionti, County Commission candidate Mary Mulhern and legislative candidate Ed Narain all have fundraisers coming up this month:
Scionti plans to kick off his campaign for Hillsborough Circuit Court Wednesday at the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City. Scionti is running for the Group 19 seat in the 13th Judicial Circuit, which covers Hillsborough County. Kim Hernandez Vance, a commercial litigation attorney and shareholder in the Tampa office of Gray Robinson, also has filed to run for the seat. Scionti is a former prosecutor, an Army Reserve veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, a former state representative and a federal appointee who has held posts in the Department of Defense and State Department.

Mark Anderson and Keith Bucklew will host a reception for Mulhern on June 26. Mulhern, a current member of the Tampa City Council, is running for the District 7 seat on the Hillsborough County Commission. The countywide seat will open in 2014 when Mark Sharpe leaves because of term limits. Hillsborough County School Board member April Griffin and District 4 County Commissioner Al Higginbotham also have filed to run for the seat.

Narain will hold a reception at the Tampa Club on June 27. An area manager for AT&T and a volunteer for organizations benefiting children and young people, Narain is running for the state House District 61 seat now held by Rep. Betty Reed, who will leave office in 2014 because of term limits. Three other candidates also have filed to run: lawyer and consumer advocate Sean Shaw, community activist Tatiana M. Denson, and former Hillsborough County Democratic Executive Committee vice chairwoman Sharon Carter.
