Gov. Rick Scott: Too soon to discuss new Hillsborough Aviation Authority member
During a news conference Monday at Tampa International Airport, Gov. Rick Scott offered his condolences to the family of Steve Burton, who died Sunday at the age of 52, and said it is too soon to discuss his replacement on the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority.
"My heart goes to Steve Burton's family," Scott said. "As chairman of the Hillsborough Aviation Authority, he was fully devoted to our airports (and) expanding our airports. He was a hard worker. I know he did his last few meetings by phone, even his last one from his hospital bed."
Asked about his thoughts about when he will name a replacement, Scott said, "Right now, I just think about Steve's family. ... We'll do this in a methodical manner, try to find somebody as good as Steve to be there, but Steve will be tough to replace."
