Hagan seeks animal shelter discussion Wednesday
Hillsborough County Commission Chairman Ken Hagan wants to know what’s happening at the animal shelter. As the Tampa Bay Times reported Sunday, two of three vets at the county’s shelter have quit. They and volunteers say crowding and long hold times are resulting in animals getting sick and that dangerous dogs are getting adopted. The vets say they weren’t treated with professional respect. Commissioners have been hearing more in phone calls and emails. So Hagan is asking Animal Services Director Ian Hallett to appear before commissioners Wednesday for an accounting. “I want to give our director an opportunity to come and answer questions and give us an update about what’s going on,” he said.
