Kriseman and Foster tout Rays deal
Mayor Rick Kriseman and City Council chairwoman Amy Foster held a news conference Friday morning at City Hall to tout the latest proposal to allow the Tampa Bay Rays to search outside the city for a new stadium.
Kriseman said he thought the Rays would eventually decide to stay put at Tropicana Field and perhaps participate in redeveloping its 85 acres.
A parcel that large in the midst of a booming downtown is rare in the United States, Kriseman said.
And Foster said unequivocally that after reading the written version released late Thursday, she's going to vote for the deal.
That apparently gives Kriseman a secure lock on the five votes needed to get the deal done.
