Obama cabinet official coming to Tampa to promote health care act signups

4

November

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan is heading to Tampa Friday as part of an Obama administration push to get people to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

In Tampa, Donovan is scheduled to hold a news conference Friday morning at the Encore Tampa redevelopment project near downtown and have lunch with Mayor Bob Buckhorn at Malio's Prime Steakhouse.

Donovan's trip is part of an effort by the Obama administration to change the national political discussion from what's wrong with HealthCare.gov to how registration for Obamacare works, according to POLITICO. Florida and Texas are important states for this effort because both have large percentages of residents who lack health insurance. As a result, the president is heading to Dallas on Wednesday, Donovan is coming to Tampa and Labor Secretary Tom Perez is scheduled to go to Orlando on Nov. 14.
