Pinellas County Commissioner Janet Long endorses Darden Rice for St. Petersburg City Council
Pinellas County Commissioner Janet C. Long is backing Darden Rice in the race for St. Petersburg’s District 4 City Council seat.
Rice is battling Dr. David McKalip and Carolyn Fries for the seat currently held by council woman Leslie Curran, who cannot run because of term limits.
Long says she has known Rice for years and works well with others.
"She is an exemplary leader who will help lead our region in thoughtful, sensible and reasonable policy for job creation, transportation, and conservation," Long wrote.
"I know she has the leadership, preparedness, and vision to lead St. Pete to a better future. Our cities need leaders like Darden now more than ever as we take up serious plans for our transportation future.”
Rice responded on her campaign’s Facebook page:
“This is a personally important endorsement from someone who has encouraged me and mentored me all along. I am honored and humbled to be endorsed by Commissioner Janet Long. She cares deeply about the future of our region and works well with everyone for the benefit of our community. She fights for what is right.”
