PolitiFact examines Bill Foster's attack on Rick Kriseman's time in Florida House

St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster and challenger Rick Kriseman squared off about Kriseman's record in the Florida Legislature in the recent Tampa Bay Times/Bay News 9 debate.

To Foster, Kriseman was a do-nothing legislator who played up party politics.

"For the years that I was mayor of the city of St. Petersburg, you were up there, and there was no legislation that passed the House that had your name on it," Foster said. "You were ineffective, and it was a waste of time."

Kriseman retorted with an example of a time he said he had success: "For anybody who's trying to cross the street and has seen those signs that say you have to stop when pedestrians are in the crosswalk, that was a bill that I passed."

PolitiFact Florida checked out both candidates' statements. Read assessments (and Truth-O-Meter ratings) of Foster's claim here and Kriseman's here.
