Qualifying dates set for Largo commission candidates
LARGO — Commissioners set the deadline to run for city office at a meeting Tuesday night.
The qualifying period will run between July 29 and Aug. 12. The commission spots up for election Nov. 8 are the mayor, seat 2 and seat 3.
So far, only the incumbents have filed to run for mayor and Seat 4: Woody Brown and Jamie Robinson, respectively.
Three candidates have filed for Seat 3: Curtis Holmes, the incumbent; Neil McMullen, a consultant for nonprofit and faith-based organizations who is part of a family with deep roots in Pinellas County; and Robert Avery, who owns a business and was accused of extortion against Aaron Darr, a former candidate, early on in the race.
The Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney’s Office dropped Avery’s charge in February.
