School Board member April Griffin quits Hillsborough County Commission race
April Griffin is ending her campaign for Hillsborough County Commission, saying she needs to focus her time and energies on her duties as chairwoman of the Hillsborough County School Board.
Griffin, a 44-year-old Democrat, was a candidate for the at-large District 7 County Commission seat now held by Mark Sharpe. Other candidates in that race include Tampa City Council member Mary Mulhern and County Commissioner Al Higginbotham, who now holds the District 4 seat based largely in eastern Hillsborough.
