St. Pete Chamber endorses candidates in Aug. 27 primary
ST. PETERSBURG -- The St. Petersburg Chamber Political Action Committee has endorsed four candidates in the upcoming Aug. 27 primary: Bill Foster for mayor; Darden Rice in District 4; Karl Nurse in District 6; and Amy Foster in District 8.
Jeff Rogo, chairman of the Chamber PAC, said the candidates were evaluated partly based on their positions on the Pier, economic development, the Tampa Bay Rays, prosperity through the entire community, and budget acumen. But in addition to these issues, they also were evaluated on leadership qualities, he said. “We do believe that these four stand out,” he said.
The four will receive contributions of $500 each from the PAC, plus the PAC’s recommendation that chamber members vote for them. The PAC is affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce, but is a separate corporation.
