St. Pete Council elects Foster, Rice to leadership positions
Two years ago, Amy Foster and Darden Rice were fresh faces on the St. Petersburg City Council.
Come January, they'll be leading the show.
The council at a Thursday workshop picked Foster to be chairwoman of the council, meaning she'll run the meetings and met weekly with Mayor Rick Kriseman.
Foster already has some experience presiding over the sometimes fractious council as outgoing chairman Charlie Gerdes occasionally handed over the reins to her when she was vice-chairwoman over the past year.
Rice will become vice-chairwoman when the new council convenes in January with two new members Lisa Wheeler-Brown and Ed Montanari, who will replace term-limited members Bill Dudley and Wengay Newton.
The council will make the positions official at its January 2 meeting.
