St. Pete PD is looking for facial recognition masters; take a sample test here
ST. PETERSBURG — The police department is searching for the “super recognizers” within its ranks.
Teaming with researchers from Dartmouth College and Harvard University, cops in St. Petersburg are preparing to be tested on facial recognition. No computers. Just the plain old power of the human eye.
The top 2 percent of test-takers within the department will be anointed “super recognizers.”
The department thinks it’s the first law enforcement organization in the country to identify "super recognizers" so scientifically. The thinking? That sharp-eyed sworn and civilian personnel might help investigators solve crimes. The most succesful could be deployed on special investigations, according to police.
