St. Petersburg mayoral candidate Kathleen Ford to miss another debate
St. Petersburg mayoral candidate Kathleen Ford is missing another debate.
Ford will not attend Saturday’s forum between challenger Rick Kriseman and Mayor Bill Foster at the South St. Petersburg Democratic Club.
“She couldn’t attend because it’s her husband’s birthday,” said club official Judith Nelson.
With the mayoral campaign in full swing, Ford has skipped at least five forums. It appears this could be a strategy in her third quest to lead Florida’s fourth-largest city. Voters will cast ballots in the Aug. 27 primary.
Foster, who leads the city, and Kriseman, who also practices law, have found time in their busy schedules to take questions from residents at each debate. Some voters are already wondering wonder if Ford has time to run the city if elected.
Last week, Ford skipped a forum at the St. Petersburg Democratic Club.
On Monday, Ford, a lawyer, skipped a forum at Westminster Palms, saying she had a deposition scheduled in Brooskville.
On Tuesday, she is skipping the St. Petersburg Mayoral Debate at the Metro Wellness center in order to speak at a neighborhood meeting.
On Wednesday, Ford is skipping a debate sponsored by the Suncoast Tiger Bay Club, saying she needs to be available for a trial outside Pinellas County.
