Tampa Bay Rays owner hints at improved relations with St. Petersburg
A relaxed, smiling Stuart Sternberg hinted at more upbeat relations with the city of St. Petersburg Tuesday shortly before the Tampa Bay Rays were to play their home opener at Tropicana Field.
While Sternberg had not met with Mayor Bill Foster since February, he told a group of reporters that the team's goal has been to open some dialogue and "we are being successful at that."
Asked if they had plans to talk again soon, the Rays principal owner said "none that I can refer to." Pressed, he added, "No news is good news."
