Tampa council plans to appoint police review panel members on Dec. 17
The Tampa City Council on Thursday outlined the process for selecting its four appointees to the new Citizens Review Board for police.
By Nov. 30, each of the seven council members (three who represent the whole city and four who represent single-member districts that each cover one-quarter of the city) will give council chairman Frank Reddick a list of four names from each of the four council districts.
On Dec. 3, the council will discuss the selection process it plans to use on Dec. 17, when it plans to name its appointees to the board. It may narrow the list at that time and decide whether to interview the finalists on Dec. 17.
The council's four members will work with five members and two alternates appointed by Mayor Bob Buckhorn last month.
