Tampa, Hillsborough firefighters unions endorse David Singer in state House District 60
Democrat David Singer on Friday picked up endorsements from the unions representing Tampa and Hillsborough firefighters in his campaign for South Tampa’s state House District 60.
“We believe David has the right background and practical solutions on how we can make our communities safer,” Derrik Ryan, president of the Hillsborough County Fire Fighters Local No. 2294, said in a statement released through Singer’s campaign.
“David Singer understands how important public safety is to the well-being of our community,” said Stephen Suarez, president of the Tampa Fire Fighters Local No. 754. “We can trust David to focus on critical issues like providing Tampa firefighters and paramedics with the best resources to help keep Tampa safe.”
Singer faces Republican Jackie Toledo, who last year picked up the endorsement of the Tampa firefighters when she ran for Tampa City Council, in the Nov. 8 election. State House District 60 covers covers the South Tampa peninsula, plus Dana Shores, Pelican Island, Baycrest Park, Bay Port Colony, Tampa Shores, Davis Islands, Harbour Island, Palmetto Beach, Palm River-Clair Mel, Apollo Beach and parts of Ruskin west of U.S. 41.
