Ten months on, riders using Tampa’s Coast Bike Share program have pedaled more than 100,000 miles, the service announced Wednesday.

The system crossed the mark on Oct. 1. Currently, it has logged 105,866 miles in 37,577 trips taken by 13,820 active members — 46 percent locals and 54 percent tourists.

About 36 percent of Coast’s members live in Tampa. Another 10 percent live in the greater Tampa Bay area. About 1,000 of Coast’s members are concentrated in zip code 33602,  which covers downtown Tampa, Harbour Island and Tampa Heights.

During October, Coast is teaming up with the Tampa Downtown Partnership and Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority to offer a free month of bike share membership with the purchase of a 31-day HART farecard at the Marion Transit Center. The offer includes 60 minutes of daily riding time and is meant to encourage HART riders to use the bikes to cover the first and last miles of their daily commutes.
