Tim Keffalas eyes District 4 seat

The election may be more than a year away, but former Tarpon Springs City Commission candidate Time Keffalas is gathering signatures to get his name on the ballot for Pinellas County Commission District 4, now held by Commissioner Susan Latvala.

A Republican, Keffalas said he wants to enforce term limits and quash a soon-to-be-proposed referendum to add a 1 cent local option sales tax for public transporation. Transporation improvements likely wouldn't be in North Pinellas, he said, and therefore would not benefit voters from his district.

He will also advocate building a deeper reserve fund for the county, he said.

"These issues should all be determined in a manner that is not politically-based but ethically and morally sound and makes good business sense," he wrote in an email.

Democrat Jack McAdoo is also seeking the seat, which includes parts of Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Oldsmar, Safety Harbor and Tarpon Springs. The election is Nov. 24 of 2014.
