Beam 'em up to Panama City

Star Trek is challenging the beach as the destination in Panama City this weekend.

Trekkies are trekking to the Bay Point Marriott to meet such actors as Kevin Sorbo, who played Hercules on the 1995-1999 TV show, and former Star Trek: Deep Space Nine cast members J.G. Hertzler and Chase Masterson.

For those who want more lasting memories, there are Star Trek dinner plates for $25 apiece, signed pictures of George Takei (Sulu) and Walter Koenig (Chekov) for $175, and a 9-inch tall figurine of James T. Kirk in his captain’s chair aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise for $2,000, according to newsherald.com.

Organizers said about 500 people turned out for the three-day event last year.
