Too hot, or too cold

It was too cold in court, but too hot in the kitchen.

A circuit court judge in Santa Rosa County ordered two county courthouse maintenance workers detained because she was cold, according to pnj.com in Pensacola.

Judge Marci Goodman called for the maintenance workers to adjust the air conditioning in the aging courthouse, which has a notoriously poor heating and cooling system. On a recording, Goodman is heard threatening to have the workers jailed, then instructing court security to detain them in a nearby room. “Let them just sit in there and freeze like the rest of us,” Goodman said.

The detention lasted about 20 minutes. The workers were released when the maintenance supervisor arrived and turned the air conditioning off.

Meanwhile, in Panama City Beach, a kitchen employee was frustrated by ticket orders coming in and shoved a cart at another cook, according to newsherald.com of Panama City. From there, it got ugly, involving a metal spatula, screwdriver and 3-foot-long grill brush with metal bristles.

After the offender walked home, the cook decided he didn’t want to press charges. But a deputy contacted the attacker, issued him a “notice to appear” on a battery charge and told him that, at the request of the manager, he was no longer employed at the restaurant.
