Caller accused of dialing 911 to get ride to bar

An Oldsmar man  is accused of calling 911 to get a ride to a bar and then kicking a sheriff’s deputy in the knees.

Oras Gregory J. Oras, 37, of 306 Bayview Blvd. in Oldsmar, made three 911 calls, including once when he left a bar on Oakwood Boulevard around 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report. Oras claimed he had a broken nose, bleeding ears and people shooting at him.

Actually, he just wanted a ride to Hennessy’s, a bar in Oldsmar, authorities said. Pinellas County sheriff’s deputies accused Oras of making false 911 calls. The deputies said they handcuffed Oras and placed him in the backseat but he refused to put his feet inside. Then, deputies say, Oras kicked one of the deputies in the knees.

The deputies used a Taser to subdue Oras, the report said. Oras, who faces a charge of making a false 911 call and battery of a law enforcement officer, was booked into Pinellas County Jail at 3:20 a.m.
