Deputies: Pasco man offered stolen goods to rightful owner

Edgar_pugh_113279d NEW PORT RICHEY — A 44-year-old man is accused of stealing items out of a parked pickup, then trying to sell them to another man, not realizing he was talking to the rightful owner.

Edgar Roderick Pugh, of 12206 Bayridge Ave., faces a charge of dealing in stolen property.

A Pasco County Sheriff's Office report says a man was visiting a home on Mystic Avenue, around the corner from Pugh's residence in Moon Lake on Sunday. While there, the man said, a drill, a bottle of perfume and cable connectors were taken from his truck.

Later that night, the report says, Pugh came into the home and tried to sell the drill to the man, who refused. Pugh also tried give the perfume to the man's girlfriend, the report said.

Pugh was arrested Thursday after investigators matched an identifying number on the drill with a spare battery in the victim's truck. Pugh remained in the Pasco County jail Friday, held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
