Teacher accused of being drunk in classroom

A Florida educator is being accused of TUI: teaching under the influence.

When an assistant principal noticed alcohol on the breath of the Manatee County special education teacher, she was removed from the class and ordered to undergo blood-alcohol tests, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports.

The testing indicated a blood alcohol level of 0.112 percent, the report states, above the 0.08 level at which Florida considers a driver impaired.

Assistant Principal Ginger Collins also said she saw teacher Anne Wampole, 39, bang on a classroom door to get her student’s attention, according to the report.

The district is moving to fire Wampole, who has taught at Bayshore High School for 10 years.
