Seems former Super Bowl quarterback Terry Bradshaw saw enough of Tim Rattay with the Bucs last season to be certain he has the ability to start in the NFL. Which would seem surprising seeing how Rattay remains unemployed after becoming a free agent last month.

"I don't understand it," Bradshaw, the fellow Louisiana Tech alum told the Monroe (La.) News Star. "Tim isn't a problem. He's a great guy in the locker room. He played great those last four games in Tampa Bay last season. And he doesn't get a chance?"

Rattay was something of a hero last season -- well, as much of a hero as you can be on a 4-12 team -- when he entered in relief of Bruce Gradkowski at Chicago and nearly pulled off an improbable come-from-behind win. He finished the season with a 60.4 completion percentage and 88.2 quarterback rating -- decent enough.

But Rattay's likeliest option will be to become a backup somewhere. Bradshaw wonders why he hasn't had more opportunity to be a starter in the NFL.

"He needs to find that right team and system," Bradshaw told the paper. "He's still a good quarterback, it just has to be the right place."

That "right place" wouldn't seem to be Tampa Bay, given the fact the Bucs have 50 -- okay, seriously, five -- quarterbacks on the roster (Chris Simms, Jeff Garcia, Jake Plummer, Bruce Gradkowski and Luke McCown).
