Cox to practice but not yet active

Cornerback Torrie Cox is getting set to practice with the Bucs this afternoon now that his four-game suspension is over. But you might notice that he isn't yet on the active roster.

We were curious about this, so we checked it out. According to a team official, the Bucs have an exemption that permits Cox to practice for the time being without being placed on the active roster.

Coach Jon Gruden has already said the team intends to activate Cox at some point, so it appears they'll just wait until they later in the week to make things official. Remember, the Bucs are expected to make some other personnel moves, too, like maybe adding a running back and/or offensive lineman because of the injuries to Cadillac Williams and Luke Petitgout.
