Darby, Roland to active roster
The Bucs have promoted running back Kenneth Darby and offensive tackle Dennis Roland to the active roster from the practice squad, the team announced.
Those moves were made after the team placed running back Cadillac Williams and tackle Luke Petitgout on injured reserve, officially ending their seasons. Williams underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair his torn patellar tendon. Petitgout said he will likely undergo knee surgery on Friday.
Wednesday's moves may be an indication the Bucs aren't holding out much hope of acquiring more experienced players at either position, one day after they engaged in brief trade talks with the Vikings about the availability of reserve running back Mewelde Moore. The Vikings were seeking a first-day draft pick in exchange, a price the Bucs considered much too high.
