Boston pleads to less-serious charge

Here's an update to this morning's item on David Boston's court appearance:

According to one of his attorneys, Ron Hanes, Boston pleaded no contest to a charge of reckless driving in a negotiated deal with the state. The former Bucs receiver was sentenced to six months of probation with a condition of 50 hours of community service. The probation period can be terminated after the community-service obligations are met.

The 29-year-old Boston is hoping his avoidance of a DUI charge will bring him closer to getting another chance in the NFL. It remains to be seen whether there is any interest in him. For now, his attorneys say he is exploring his options in the Canadian Football League.

Boston made the Bucs' final cut last season but was released when he reached an injury settlement with the team after suffering a foot injury during warm-ups for the season opener at Seattle.
