Cox placed on I.R. again with torn ACL

For the second straight year, cornerback Torrie Cox will miss the season with a torn ACL in his left knee.

Cox, who was placed on Injured Reserve, played just four games last season before tearing the same ligament. It's the same injury Cox sustained during preseason in 2003, ending his rookie campaign.

He was injured during Saturday afternoon's workout.

Cox, 27, was competing for a job at the nickel cornerback spot and had been a contributor to special teams.

"It's a tough blow,'' coach Jon Gruden said. "We missed him last season. He really did work hard to come back and it's just a shame.''

Gruden said the injury occurred during a 7-on-7 drill. "It was just a simple break and turn,'' Gruden said. "He caught it in the turf, looked like. That's why you hold your breath when you're practicing.'

The Bucs suffered two more injuries Tuesday but they appeared minor. Running back Earnest Graham suffered an ankle sprain and tight end Ben Troupe suffered a blow to the head.
