Nate Washington rumors gaining steam
UPDATE, 9:48 p.m.: We've established the Bucs are one of about five teams that are high on Washington. They are sitting in good position to sign him if they want him badly enough. We'll see what unfolds over the next few hours.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps you've heard Pittsburgh WR Nate Washington's name tossed around in connection with the Bucs.
Well, now we're hearing the rumors are very legitimate. The Bucs have a serious interest in the Steelers' No. 3 receiver who in 2008 finished with 40 receptions for 631 yards. We've also learned Washington's camp is expecting a deal that includes a guaranteed sum in the neighborhood of $7-million to $8-million.
But if the Bucs intend to sign Washington, it seems they'll have competition. The Rams also are believed to be preparing to pursue the 25-year-old from Tiffin University.
This could be just the tip of the iceberg in what could be an active night (and early morning) for the Bucs.
