Bucs on the field; Penn absent
UPDATE, 11:50 a.m.: The Bucs tell us Brian Griese and Earnest Graham have very valid reasons for their absences. Griese's wife, Brook, is late in her pregnancy with their second child. Graham is absent because of a family situation. Wanted to point that out just to be fair.
10:49 a.m.: The three-day mini-camp is underway.
The Bucs took the field this morning with Tupac Shakur playing in the background, showing a little bounce in their steps.
One clarification: this is a voluntary camp. The Bucs had released some vague information last week that left us with the wrong impression.
Still attendance looks strong. We see no sign of restricted free agent Donald Penn, who hasn't yet signed his tender. He still wants a long-term deal. Penn could have elected to attend this camp, but he is probably trying to make a statement with his absence.
Also apparently absent are QB Brian Griese and RB Earnest Graham, though neither is believed to have any conflict with the team. RB Cadillac
Williams is around, though he obviously won't be practicing with the team as he continues his rehab back from a torn patellar tendon his knee.
This is the first of two practices today. We'll also hear from defensive coordinator Jim Bates this afternoon. Stay close and we'll keep you posted throughout the day.
