Sears placed on Reserve, Did Not Report list
Guard Arron Sears was placed on the Reserve, Did Not Report list by the Bucs Friday.
The second round pick from Tennessee in 2007 is dealing with a 'private matter,' and it's unknown when or if Sears will play this season.
Sears, who started at left guard the past two seasons, will not count against the 80-man roster limit. The Bucs have elected not to fine Sears for failing to report.
"I'm not frustrated. I'm just looking out for Arron and I hope everything comes together for him and that he reports,'' said general manager Mark Dominik. "We want to be there to support him. I think that's the most important thing for us.''
Asked if Sears might play sometime this season, Dominik said, "I hope so.''
Sears left the Bucs off-season workout program in the spring and returned to his home in Alabama. Both Dominik and coach Raheem Morris said they have not spoken to Sears recently.
Second-year pro Jeremy Zuttah will take over Sears' spot at left guard.
"I'm really excited about Zuttah,'' Morris said. "I'm really excited about those guys playing with him. We talked about this from the beginning. We talked about dealing with adversity when people didn't show up in OTA days and having people step in and getting a chance to evaluate those players...the sky is not falling because one man did not show on this team.''
