Bucs claim Giants DE Maurice Evans
The Bucs filled one of their two remaining roster spots by claiming Giants defensive end Maurice Evans off waivers Sunday.
The 6-2, 264-pound Evans is an undrafted free agent from Penn State. After recording an outstanding sophomore season with 12.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss with five forced fumbles, Evans was suspended for the first three games of 2008 after being charged with possession of marijuana.
Last season, he played behind Aaron Maybin and recoded three sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss before deciding to enter the NFL draft as a junior.
Evans will provide depth at defensive end with Gaines Adams, Jimmy Wilkerson, Kyle Moore and Stylz White.
