Bucs will try to develop Josh Johnson while Freeman sits

The Bucs are committed to developing second-year quarterback Josh Johnson while first-round pick Josh Freeman sits.

"Right now, Josh (Johnson) has earned the right to be named the starter,'' coach Raheem Morris said. "He did a good job of managing the job yesterday. And he's going through his growing pains. But I've got to give him his opportunity. I can't base it on what we want to see from Josh Freeman. You can't talk in those kinds of terms. He's not in there yet.

"He's No. 2 and he's got to prepare like No. 2. And hopefully he can learn from some of Josh Johnson's mistakes if he ever gets an opportunity. You never want to make the other person's mistake.''
