Jim Bates does not accompany Bucs to Atlanta

Ousted defensive coordinator Jim Bates did not travel with the Bucs for their game Sunday in Atlanta.

Bates, who broke down film of the Falcons offense for coach Raheem Morris last week, had been undecided about taking the trip as late as Friday.

Morris took over the defensive play-calling duties from Bates on Monday.
