Bucs "pool" of safeties reduced as Pool agrees with Jets
In case you missed it last night, free agent safety Brodney Pool, who was scheduled to be in Tampa today for a visit with the Bucs, agreed to terms with the Jets last night.
That means the Bucs have one less available safety to choose from as they fish around the available candidates to presumably come in and push Sabby Piscitelli at strong safety.
They are hosting Eagles free agent Sean Jones today, who looks like he fits the profile of what the Bucs need: an experienced player who also would provide a bit of a veteran presence. At the same time, he just turned 28 last week, so he is hardly over the hill.
Jones has been a bit of an inconsistent player in his career, but he was solid enough in 2008 that the Browns, his team at the time, actually briefly considered using the franchise tag to retain him. He ultimately went to the Eagles as a free agent last season.
We'll keep you posted if and when any news comes out of One Buc Place today.
