Suh or McCoy? Tampa Bay Bucs have a preference

The Bucs could potentially have their choice of Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh and Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy when they find themselves on the clock for the NFL draft's No. 3 overall pick next month.

And the Bucs have already decided internally which highly-coveted defensive tackle they prefer in the event they have the luxury of picking. They're just not saying.

Coach Raheem Morris revealed this during this morning's coaches breakfast here at the NFL owners meetings at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando. But Morris admits both are great players and the gap between them is very small.

He called Such and McCoy "two dynamic guys, two guys who are slightly different but both dominant."

As for the belief that one would fit the Bucs' scheme better than the other -- McCoy is said to be a better penetrator and presumably more suitable for the Tampa 2 system -- Morris downplayed that. He chalked that up to a result of what their teams asked them to do in their respective defenses more than a sign of their particular abilities.

On a related note, nothing from Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said this morning indicated St. Louis is drafting anyone but Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford first overall. After that, should the Lions go with Oklahoma State offensive tackle Russell Okung, then the Bucs would find themselves in the aforementioned position: able to have their pick between Suh and McCoy.
