The drama over who would call plays for the Bucs is over, in a big way.
Offensive coordinator Todd Monken's debut as an NFL play-caller resulted in a touchdown on his first drive — a 58-yard touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson from Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Monken handled play-calling in the preseason, and this play looked to be well-designed. Jackson, who didn't have a catch over 50 yards last season — his first with the Bucs, was wide open.
Check it out.
The #Bucs could win without relying on Ryan Fitzpatrick to pass, but it’s not likely. They've tried. Over the past few seasons, they’ve repeatedly tried to establish the run, and they’ve failed. https://t.co/dmtUDJEn2y #GoBucs #GoSaints #Saints #NFLKickoff2018 @tometrics— TampaBayTimesSports (@TBTimes_Sports) September 8, 2018
