The Bucs certainly benefited from the bye week.

Tight end O.J. Howard, who was expected to miss 1-2 games with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee, returned to practice Wednesday.

Cornerback Carlton Davis, who has battled a groin injury, and safety Jordan Whitehead, who did not play at Chicago due to a hamstring injury, also were practicing during the portion open to the media.

The Bucs also may get some more help on the defensive line for Sunday's game at Atlanta. Defensive tackle Beau Allen, who has not played since suffering a foot injury in Week 2 against the Eagles, returned to practice on Wednesday.
