Bucs agree to terms with Dolphins CB Grimes
The Bucs finally addressed a need on defense, signing Dolphins free agent cornerback Brent Grimes to a two-year deal worth $13.5-million.
Grimes, 32, played for Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith with the Falcons from 2008-12. He was released by the Dolphins Wednesday after the team completed a deal wiith the Eagles for CB Byron Maxwell.
Grimes is a four-time Pro Bowl player, including the last three seasons with the Dolphins when he had 13 interceptions during that stretch. He joins a Bucs secondary that includes veterans Alterraun Verner and Johnthan Banks. The Bucs secondary had a combined six interceptions last season while Grimes had four in '15 for the Dolphins. His contract includes another $3-million in incentives over the next two seasons.
Grimes stay in Miami also is known for some outburts on social media by his wife, Miko, who was arrested outside Sun Life Stadium in Sept. on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest with battery on a law enforcement officer. Those charges were dropped two months later.
She also took a shot on social media at Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill following a loss to the Colts.
For now, it appears Miko Grimes has suspended her Twitter acocunt.
