Bucs' Aguayo named NFC Special Teams Player of Week
Bucs rookie kicker Roberto Aguayo, who went 4-for-4 on field goals in the Bucs' 19-17 win at Kansas City on Sunday, has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Aguayo is the first Bucs kicker to win the weekly honor since Matt Bryant in 2008, and the first Bucs rookie to be honored since kick returner Clifton Smith in 2008. The only other Bucs rookie kicker ever to earn the weekly honor was Martin Gramatica in 1999.
Aguayo has made a considerable turnaround since struggling in the first five games of the season. Since the Bucs' bye in Week 6, he has gone 9-for-10 on field goals and 12-for-13 on extra points, ranking among the NFL's top 10 scorers in that span.
