The Bucs on Tuesday released a pair of backups in safety D.J. Swearinger and linebacker Orie Lemon, with no immediate news on signings to replace them on the 53-man roster.

Swearinger had 11 tackles this season, but none since Week 3, having been relegated to a special-teams role. He had been inactive the last two weeks with a toe injury, and likely would be inactive once Major Wright returns healthy from his hamstring injury. Lemon, cut once before, has been a regular on kick coverage, with two special-teams coverage.

The Bucs also released two players from the practice squad in safety Akeem Davis and linebacker Quayshawn Nealy, both recent additions. No corresponding additions were immmediately announced.
