Bucs 'desperately,' need a win on NFLN game vs. Carolina
Crews wearing hazmat suits did some heavy scrubbing of the visitors' locker room at the Georgia Dome once the Bucs left there Sunday.
At 0-6, the Bucs now have a chance to cleanse their reputation as one of the league's most dysfunctional teams with a win against the Carolina Panthers on the NFL Network's Thursday night football game at Raymond James Stadium.
"First and foremost, we desperately need a win, right?'' coach Greg Schiano said. "That’s a good headline: desperately need a win.
“I think what’s most important is I think the guys recognize that every other NFL player watches this game, at least if they’re a football fan they do. The Thursday night football game is part of their week. Coaches not always because some of them are still working. Some get their stuff done and are able to tune in a little bit. It’s a big part of our league. Yeah, when you get a chance to be the only show in the league, everybody understands that. Sure they do.''
Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy said after watching the Giants get their first victory against the Vikings Monday night, the Bucs don't want to be among the few winless teams in the NFL.
“We just want to win. I’m just being honest. We just want to win,'' defensive end Gerald McCoy said. "I guess it’s prime time. That’s it. There’s a lot of fireworks around it...This is a division opponent that we don’t like.
“Desperate, that’s kind of like the last straw isn’t it? If you don’t have a win? The Giants won last night. I was like c’mon now. Dang it. Another team with a win. We’ve got to get one. We don’t want to be the last ones. We’ve got to get it.’’
